Arc Board Candidate Cox up regulations

Calls for Disqualification of second Arc Board candidate after evidence suggests breach of campaigning regulations.

Arc Board Candidate Cox up regulations

As the Arc Board elections come to a close, an anonymous source approached Noise, claiming that Board candidate Luke Cox had violated the rules regarding campaigning on campus.

During the election period, Cox posted social media stories of himself and WSU student Julian Gonzalez distributing campaign material on Main Walkway, potentially violating part iii of section 10.24(a) of the Arc regulations, which states that ‘Only UNSW students may campaign for election of a candidate or ticket in Arc elections’. Accusations relating to this regulation last arose in 2022.

Noise understands that a report was made to Arc by another candidate, including screenshots of Cox’s stories and evidence of Gonzalez’s enrollment at WSU. The report claims that Gonzalez’s involvement was ‘a breach of all principles of honesty and fairness’, and called on the Returning Officers (whose role is to ensure that the election Regulations are followed) to ‘consider the immediate disqualification of Luke Cox from the election’.

While voting for candidates closed prior to the report being made, the results of the election are yet to be announced. Noise has reached out to Arc for comment, but has not received any correspondence at this time.
